The attractive spa town of Harrogate is 7 miles away from Gardeners Cottage. Famous for Bettys Tea rooms and RHS Harlow Carr Gardens and Flower shows there are unique shops, a great selection of restaurants and places to stroll and enjoy the pretty surroundings.
See the shambles dating back hundreds of years, the National Railway museum, Jorivik Viking museum and walk the city walls.
Staveley Nature Reserve
A 10 minute walk fro the cottage is the Staveley Nature Reserve. Set in 79 hectares this area is full of wildlife. Over 215 species of bird including Temminck's stint and whiskered tern have visited the site since 1974. It is also home to many small mammals including voles, shrews and harvest mice.
The ancient market town of Knaresborough is 4 miles from the cottage - the River Nidd flows through, also worth a visit is Mother Shiptons Cave, the ancient castle and market days on Wednesdays.
The pretty towns and villages close to the cottage include Masham well known for Theakstons and Black Sheep breweries, also Pateley Bridge and Brimham Rocks.
